Thus Far...

Vincent Valentine, a former Turk infused with Jenova cells, has finally gained the life of peace he had desired for so long. One night, as he recalls a series of previous events, something out of the ordinary occurs. Just as he saves a young woman from a strange beast, a sudden vortex appears out of the blue, and the Turk is hurled into a new, totally different universe. Upon looking at the area, he notices that everything is, literally, different than that of his own world. He follows a path in the hope to find civilization, and he then comes across Kikyo, a priestess and former lover of Inuyasha. The two adults ban together, and they come across a deserted town, the Riyona Village.

They stumble across a frightened young girl named Kohana, and Kikyo encounters a most unusual blind man called Oberon. After some time, a bell rings in the distance and the people of the village emerge from the woods. A woman named Miyoushi, or Miyo, subsequently thanks Kikyo and Vincent for staying with Kohana, her younger sister. As a kind gesture, the two sisters invite the strangers into their home, and while Kikyo decides to join them, the red eyed man declines.

It is during the meal that Miyo explains that Kikyo and her companion were mistaken for demons, and as a result, everyone fled into the forest for protection from their guardian, Riyona, who the village is named for. As the priestess gains a better understanding of the Riyona Village, Miyo calls Vincent inside once again, and a sudden feeling begins to blossom in the Turk. This time he accepts and joins the three women for their evening meal, and, for perhaps once in his life, Vincent begins to understand the true meaning of unity.

After Kikyo and Kohana retire for the evening, Miyo and Vincent are left alone, and the two share a conversation. The woman learns that she shares similarities with the Turk, and they greatly relate with one another. It is undeniable that the Riyona Village is beginning to effect Vincent Valentine.

Suddenly, two strange beings crash into the side of Miyo's house, and the larger tends to an unconscious third person and they both attempt to revive their weakened companion. Wanting to help the helpless intruders, Vincent displays a mere sampling of his strength as he spares some of his Jenova energy to the girl, and he saves her life. Miyo offers Eana, Gil, and Mini a room to stay in until they are able to leave.

As morning arrives, the three strangers confront and even brawl with Vincent, Miyo and Kikyo before leaving on a bitter note. Oberon then, surprisingly, confronts Kikyo and asks her to join him on several errands at the festival. She reluctantly agrees and departs from the rest of the group. Several hours pass before the two girls and the Turk venture to the festival.

Evening draws quickly, and as the night presses on, Miyo and Vincent are visited by a strange cloaked being. The figure, who seems to be a man, promises that a drawing force will soon reign down upon the Riyona Village, and fearing for the girls' safety, the Turk forces him away. Afterward, Vincent proposes to leave, for he fears that his presence will cost his friends' lives. Insisting that all will be well, Miyo manages to persuade Vincent to stay as he promises that he'll remain as long as he's needed. With the Turk now as full time resident in the village, many journeys are certain to ensue.

The following day, Miyo offers to visit the famous shrine of Riyona, and the group ventures through the forest toward their destination. On the way there, a strange storm of dust briefly halts the trio until a strange ray of light eliminates the harmful delay. The aiding force is none other than the guardian Riyona.

Arriving at their destination, the three enjoy the serene shrine until Kohana encounters a strange figure with a sword. The stranger is Arnia, the current shrine keeper, and she takes an instant liking to Vincent. She then informs him that he is a part of an ancient prophecy, which the Turk finds most accurate. While Miyo and Kohana are dismayed at the thought of their new friend leaving so abruptly, Vincent cannot help but be curious as to find a way home...
